Blood Test for Brain Cancer Might Soon Be Available

Researchers at Penn State have created a brand-new blood-based test to look for glioblastoma brain cancer indicators. An antigen receptor produced from glioblastoma tumors called IL13R2 is the target of the test, which searches for high amounts of it.

According to Penn State, the most prevalent and deadly form of brain cancer, glioblastoma (GBM), has a five-year survival rate of only 5%.

Blood tests can now use a biomarker discovered by Penn State College of Medicine researchers to diagnose GBM, monitor its development, and direct treatment.

Diagnose According to the researchers, such a non-invasive liquid biopsy for GBM could speed up the process by which patients receive the therapy they require.

Patients frequently get imaging procedures like MRIs.
